Keys to a Successful Proposal

A CubeSat contest is not just about building a satellite; it's about proposing a well-thought-out, feasible, and impactful mission. Here are the core pillars of a winning entry.

1. Deconstruct the Requirements

Thoroughly read and understand every rule, objective, constraint, and evaluation criterion. Your proposal must directly address what the organizers are asking for.

2. Develop a Compelling & Feasible Mission

Your mission should be innovative yet achievable. A simple, well-executed idea is often better than a complex one that is not feasible with student resources. Clearly define what success looks like.

3. Document Everything (The Proposal)

Your proposal is your main sales document. It must be clear, concise, and professional. Include technical details, system diagrams, budgets (mass, power, data, cost), and a realistic project timeline.

4. Use Design & Simulation Tools

Leverage tools like NanoSatPlay to create and validate your design. Use the Designer to estimate mass and power, and use the Simulator to analyze your proposed orbit. Include results in your proposal to show you've done your homework.

5. Practice Your Presentation

Be prepared to defend your design. Know your material inside and out, and practice presenting your project clearly and confidently to a panel of judges.
